Dappling is inspired by the movement of the dappling of light as it passes through a canopy of leaves. As that happens, light seems to almost dance around in spots on the ground, or on walls, signaling a bright and cheery day. The work aims to recreate this light-hearted atmosphere in hopes of using mechanical movement to achieve a likeness to nature. Small mirrors are mounted on discs which slowly rotate until when aligned to a flashlight– during which spots of light are cast on the wall.
