Stabile is a series inspired by the stabiles of Alexander Calder. Calder’s “stabile”– a word combination of “stationary” and “mobile”– is ironic as it merges two conflicting states at once. Similarly, the triptych aims to upset this dichotomy, by conveying a sense of implied movement through lines, form, and colour. Wires connected by self-created pivot joints and colour gradients of the spray-paint coats all anticipate motion, seeking to fabricate movement visually through formal means.
